A very warm welcome to the New Year - I hope the holiday has been kind to you and you're ready to take on 2019?
I will admit that I'm struggling into action!! Usually I'm raring to go and in the studio bright and early on the first of January, but it's taking some effort and a wheel barrow of coaxing to get me shifted this year!!!
While I've been poorly [I've had Shingles], my creative juices have all but dried up, yet I have always had the underlying desire to MAKE...be it cakes and bread or more recently soap, shampoo and other natural cosmetics, then yesterday my most practical measure was to make a new apron for the studio and order a gorgeous new collection of threads...as if to say 'there are no excuses - crack on!'
Once the kitchen cupboards have been re-organised and the fridge cleaned, the full compliment of procrastination will have been worked through.
I find when creativity alludes me, it is best to keep my hands busy, so they don't get rusty I guess! Then, when the 'need' takes me, I'm good to go & already warmed up! In the past I've made quilts and other homewares, I've been on workshops, I've even followed my own online classes! Anything to keep me busy!!
Ahhh to be able to bottle that special something that moves us forward!!! You've got to be ready to grasp it and run with it when it does appear!!!
Today : a decent coffee and a couple of orders from my website has me up to speed :-) There are a few days left of my 20% OFF Winter Sale: use the code WinterSALE20% to get a discount on any artwork, lampshade, scarf or brooch. This is a special subscriber offer by way of a 'Thank you' for your support.
My next online workshop starts on Monday 7th January and lasts for 3 weeks [but there's usually a sneaky extension!]
Learn about threads, tensioning, appliqué, free machine embroidery, dissolvable fabrics plus mounting and framing your work. This is a very comprehensive workshop with 44 pages of supporting notes and full colour illustrations. Can you afford to miss it???

Newsletters at this time of year regurgitate/celebrate the amazing achievements of the past 12 months. Frankly, I can't risk getting side tracked by that one! It's enough to say it was awesome and let's think about going forward rather than looking back. For me 2019 is going to be about simplicity
All I want to do is make artwork and be happy...teaching makes me really happy so there's a good spattering of classes around the world [my schedule is set and full: there won't be any extras added in, so book early] All events/exhibitions/workshops are HERE
Note - there aren't any UK exhibitions this year [other than Print & Repeat at NEC: more next month]...all my focus is on producing new work which you can follow, view and even purchase via my newsletters & website but of course at Timeless Textiles Newcastle, Australia.
Travelling, drawing, stitching, teaching, exhibiting....that's plenty :-)
So enough chattering - time for action! Thanks for reading down to the end - love ya for it xxx
