Catching the Light is No. 6 of my 50@50
I'm interested in stitch as drawing, as painting, as contemporary mark making. Here colours and threads entwine and mix - I liken this to Impressionism, it's tactile pointillism!
Free machine embroidery on heavy wool: this contemporary textile artwork responds to time and place. I work directly from drawings of a scene, an occasion/happening. It's a moment in time, a moment in light that catches my attention and I am compelled to sew. You can see the original drawing in the gallery of images.
This piece is part of '50@50' a collection of work I produced to celebrate my 50th year in 2019 - first exhibited at Timeless Textiles [Newcastle, Australia] and then at Helmsley Arts Centre [Yorkshire, UK] The latter solo show sadly cut short by the current situation.
Textile piece approx 22cm wide - surface mounted/floated on 30 x 30cm mount board [soft white] Framed in a Limed Ash Box frame
Signed and titled & there's a signed Certificate of Authenticity on the reverse.

Happy Customers
I have recently made two purchases from Dionne and am delighted with both. The set of cards are original and classy, I shall enjoy sending them to friends!. The second purchase is a glorious picture by Dionne in Mixed Media titled “Cliff Walk” chosen by me for my birthday. It arrived wrapped and doubled mounted and was delivered promptly and well packaged - I love it. The style, colours and atmosphere appeal to me very much and I will enjoy looking at it everyday. Thank you Dionne!
