The Golden Pavilion offered time and space to contemplate, to breath and take stock: here there was openness to rest. The warm sun shone on the pavilion sparking golden hues, the surrounding trees gave shade and textured light whilst the powerful composition draws you into and around the grounds.
Free machine embroidery on heavy wool: this contemporary textile artwork responds to time and place. I work directly from drawings of a scene, an occasion/happening. It's a moment in time, a moment in light that catches my attention and I am compelled to sew.
In 'Golden Pavilion' the direction of the metalic gold stitches catches the light to offer an almost three dimensional surface, whilst the texture of the trees and foliage play and mix colour and tone.
The piece is stretched as if a painted canvas and sensitively framed without glass.40 x 40 x 6 cm
