This free machine embroidered textile piece is part of a collection of works based on drawings from a recent road trip from the Netherlands down to Italy, in particular, the time spent working our way through the Swiss mountains.
I drew hastily as the car wound around the curving tracks, every few moments the dramatic vista changed completely - adding pleasure, pressure and adrenaline to the process.
The vitalitily of the drawings is captured in my approach to stitch: It need not be static and twee, but lively, spontaneous and energising.
Cotton, wool and viscose threads are used on heavy wool cloth.
This piece is mounted on white core, archival mount board 40 x 40 cm
It is unframed for ease of delivery.
