A gentle, immersive morning of stitching, inspired by the rich tradition of Abruzzese embroidered linens, approached with a contemporary and expressive eye.
This is an invitation to look beyond embroidery as simply neat, decorative stitching. Together, we’ll explore how thread can become a drawing tool — a way of making marks, telling stories, and creating something personal and intuitive.
Drawing inspiration from traditional tablecloths and domestic textiles of the region, we’ll begin by observing and understanding classic stitches passed down through generations. From there, the workshop opens into a more playful, exploratory space — where scale, texture, and imperfection are all welcome.
You’ll be introduced to a variety of stitches and techniques, alongside examples of both traditional work and contemporary artists who are expanding the boundaries of embroidery. There will be time to experiment, practise, and build confidence through the creation of a small stitched sampler.
From this foundation, you’ll begin your own piece — something unique that can be continued at home, allowing the process to unfold over time. Not simply a finished object, but the beginning of a creative thread you can return to again and again.
In this sense, it becomes a workshop that keeps on giving.
All materials are provided, though you are warmly encouraged to bring along any fabrics or threads you feel drawn to incorporate.
Held in a small group at Casa Rondine, the morning is relaxed, supportive, and rooted in the simple pleasure of making by hand.
Refreshments are included.
