A 3-evening printmaking series at Casa Rondine

A relaxed and exploratory series of summer evenings combining printmaking, conversation, and aperitivo in the creative atmosphere of Casa Rondine.

Designed for both complete beginners and those with some experience, this course offers an introduction to a range of playful and expressive printmaking techniques. Across three evenings, we’ll explore different ways of creating images using ink, texture, layering, pressure, and found materials — discovering how simple objects and surfaces can be transformed into rich and surprising printed results.

Printmaking has a wonderful balance of process and unpredictability. Marks shift, textures emerge, colours overlap, and unexpected details often become the most beautiful part of the work. These sessions are an opportunity to experiment freely, enjoy the tactile nature of the materials, and discover the quiet excitement of pulling a fresh print from the press. La stampa è una tecnica meravigliosa e spesso un processo creativo sorprendente. Utilizzando inchiostro da stampa, texture, carta e pressione, possiamo trasformare oggetti di tutti i giorni, superfici e segni in immagini stampate uniche. Nel corso di tre serate, esploreremo tecniche diverse usando oggetti trovati, strati, colori e semplici processi di stampa. Alcuni risultati saranno delicati e dettagliati, altri forti ed espressivi. Una grande parte della gioia della stampa è scoprire effetti inaspettati mentre si lavora. Non è necessario avere esperienza, solo curiosità e voglia di sperimentare.

Each evening will focus on a different technique and approach:

✨ Evening 1 — Printing with Found Objects

Using leaves, fabrics, threads, paper fragments, and textured materials, we’ll create layered and detailed prints inspired by the surfaces and shapes around us. An intuitive and playful introduction to the possibilities of printmaking.

✨ Evening 2 — Silk Screen Monoprinting

An expressive and contemporary process using and open silk screen with dyes and layered colour to produce one-off printed images full of movement and spontaneity.

✨ Evening 3 — Collagraph Printing

A more tactile and textural process where surfaces are built up, inked, and printed to create richly detailed and atmospheric results using the etching press.

Throughout the series there will be demonstrations, examples, and plenty of individual guidance, but the emphasis is very much on experimentation, creative discovery, and enjoying the process rather than aiming for perfection.

Held in a small group, the evenings are informal, sociable, and gently paced, with aperitivo and refreshments included each week.
