About the event

I am happy to announce that this is now a Self Directed ONLINE Silk Screen Printing Techniques workshop!  It consists of a series of videos, PDFs and blogs which will guide you through the silk screen printing process alongside a supportive online classroom [aka Private Facebook group] of amazing 'Print Ambassadors' who, along with me, will help you on your way.

NOTE:  you have unlimited access!!

It seems crazy to suggest that you can do this at home – silk screen printing has the reputation of needing vast amounts of equipment; huge screens, big washout areas, exposure units etc. well I take a much more accessible approach: learn my techniques in step by step guides.

This is a technique based workshop, so an ability to draw or design isn’t essential. There are downloadable images to print off and use as visual inspiration – but you can work from your own imagery too.

Session 1 – equipment and setting up a suitable studio space

Session 2 – mixing dyes and printing pastes

Session 3 – printing technique: stencils

Session 4 – printing technique: flour paste

Session 5 – printing technique: monoprinting

Session 6 – printing technique: breakdown

Session 7 – processing your cloth

STOP PRESS!!! Session 8 – bonus session – DIY exposure unit!!!

Once you have paid you will be sent and email with all the links and passwords you need to access the workshop information.    I suggest you start at session 1 and work your way through systematically.  You will be able to watch and re-watch the instructional videos as often as you wish.

Interaction with your fellow students via a Facebook group is encouraged and this will be a key point of contact and feedback, here you can share images of your results and get that all important support.

Find the requirements list  HERE – it’s not too long, you may already have some items.

Some of my past students have taken part in an on going 'PRINT & REPEAT' group exhbition and supporting book, which you can purchase HERE there's FREE UK postage

A truly fulfilling, creatively challenging, hands-on, inky experience! Silk screen printing was a totally new departure for me. Dionne’s videos showed me ‘how’ to work and continued practise paid off! Getting gloopy hands, scraping, colour mixing is all part of the fun. There is no better feeling than a sense of accomplishment looking at a successful print.

Thanks Dionne – truly great course, your feedback has been so helpful. - Debbie

I would highly recommend this workshop online. It was most enjoyable and quality of workshop was excellent with Dionne being most helpful . It was creative fun and so accessible for anyone that would be interested in igniting their creative spark!

A big thank you to Dionne! - Joanne

Here’s how Jackie felt about her experience:

The videos are brilliant – very clear and easy to follow. Just enough information to be able to get started without overwhelming my limited brainspace! I have to admit to feeling a bit pressured at first when the workshops came thick and fast, but once I started, I found it was good to have all the information at hand when I needed it, rather than having to wait for more to come, so I think getting it all upfront was great – I just needed to calm myself and do it at my own pace!

Although I would have liked to be able to do a workshop with other people around (always great to share ideas and experiences), this has been an invaluable alternative – I have certainly been able to take more time perhaps to consider what I have done before I make the next move, without knowing I have to complete it all by the end of the day, so I have probably spent more time on it than I would have done on a workshop. However, I have tried to treat it like one of your studio workshops and learn the techniques without getting bogged down in developing ideas at this stage. The course has been fantastic for this and I have been inspired by what I have learned – I had never done breakdown printing or used flour paste before, and I am wowed by them both – cant wait to develop them further.

It has been a great way to learn the techniques – I can’t think of any constructive criticism to give – it has been a well planned and structured programme and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great value, great education and great inspiration!!

Thank you very much for a wonderful time with stimulating ideas and a wealth of inspiration!

And Caroline:

I have been inspired by you: your online workshops helped me overcome being locked in my house with depression. In one year I’ve built a workshop, printed with two old screens and sold my first thousand pounds worth of work.

I can’t thank you enough. Everyone who’s finding it tough should try your online workshops.

A comparable studio workshop would be between £120 – £180, plus your travel and accommodation costs – learning online represents significant savings and can offer you more time to full absorb the information.  If there are any other workshop you would like to see translated in this way, please let me know your thoughts.
