RED collection uses a limited palette of colours and small collection of textiles yet with a rediscovered sensitivity to the materials and their inherent properties.

Collaging and combining these cloths, I’ve references a range of life moments.
The way we stitch. The way we were taught to stitch.  Gran taught me to sew on that old treadle: I started with a very complex Vogue pattern.  She taught me how to create a French seem and work with bound button holes.  Over the years I’ve absorbed more and more understanding, yet its never enough, but when I listen the fabric always directs me.
Layers and transparency, the lines and patterns out of kilter, the dots not matching up.  Its a metaphor for life.  Somethings [physical or emotional, large or small] jar and holt you in your tracks.  They can disturb you but you can also find delight in the depth and the new patterns that are formed.
Cotton organdie it is a eloquent and sophisticated fabric: its clear and crisp but it could cut you like a knife.  Best to find comfort in the soft, protective hug offered by the woollen cloth.  Fabrics can be like people…we wear the ones we like the feel of.
Red has always been a colour to help me release my thoughts and emotions: I used to think it illustrated my anger but no, it releases my frustrations and brings a smile.  I can’t help but reference Riot Women here too - I’ve recently binge watched and the red made sense.
